How ’bout this wonderful Smarch weather we’re having, eh?

  • All-New Wolverine #18
  • Flash #18
  • Green Valley #6
  • IvX #6
  • Jonesy #11
  • Uber Invasion #4
  • The Wicked + The Divine #27

IvX #6 is here. It’s ending. I’m not sure if I’m dreading it or not. This has been a strange event that I have barely felt anything for. Maybe Forge being in the comic has been a plus. I don’t know. I’m just happy to see it end. The fall out should be disastrous.

Green Valley continues to be weird and I like that.

I’m behind by 2 issues on Uber: Invasion, so I’ll likely be catching up this with this issue.

Flash‘s last issue was okay. Not bad. Not good. But very Flash-y as I’ve come to know it. I don’t dislike this book, but it’s pretty middle-of-the-road. That being said, I’m still reading it. I think reading this and watching The Flash on CW back to back has helped quell any real problems I have with this series.

  • Grass Kings #1
  • Mother Panic #4
  • Green Valley #6 (of 9)
  • Doctor Aphra #5

I have been waiting for months for Grass Kings.  I am so excited for this book!  How could a team up between Matt Kindt and Tyler Jenkins go wrong?  I was on board before I even knew that it’s a rural mystery à la Jenkin’s fantastic miniseries Snow Blind.  The series follows the lives of the Grass Kings, three brothers who rule a trailer park kingdom.  The eldest brother takes in an young stranger looking for a safe haven, unwittingly putting it in jeopardy.

Green Valley is fun (dinosaurs v. knights!), but it’s beginning to look like it’s just another dramatic demonstration of Clarke’s Third Law.  I hope it has more than that to offer us this week.

  • Birthright #23 (maybe?)
  • Grass Kings #1

So last week I was looking up my pulls for future weeks…and I have this written down…Birthright #23 was on that list.  Looking at it today, the title’s no longer there.  I’ve used Comixology enough to know that they don’t always correctly shuffle book dates…and Image’s own site also seems to suggest the book should fall on March 22.  That being said, I like this book, I enjoy this book…but I wouldn’t be overly distraught if it wrapped.  For a long while now, it feels like the book has lacked a clean arc break of sorts.

Okay, so Grass Kings has a favorite writer of mine in Matt Kindt, an artist whose work falls into the category of “books I have purchased on Comixology, but have yet to read” (it’s a category which seems to only increase in number) in Tyler Jenkins…and whose description offers up a comparison to “True Detective Season One.”  That’s the sort of bold verbage that I will hold you to, BOOM Studios (I assume said write-up was your work, and not Kindt’s).  It does seem to have a rural flavor, and largely surrounds a group of brothers that run a trailer park of sorts, one filled with outsiders and secrets.  There’s not a whole lot else being said about this book at said point, but I think that’s a good thing.
